Doug zurn was born in erie, pennsylvania in 1963 and grew up boating on lake erie aboard his family’s mccurdy & rhodes sailboats, a 17-foot boston whaler and a philip rhodes dyer dinghy midget. by the age of 17 he had absorbed skene’s elements of yacht design; eventually preparing his own drawings and boat models in high school architecture.
