Tinkerbell 2 i'm searching for my next project, probably a small sailboat that is easy to launch, load and handle by one person. i know there are many suitable small cabin boats plans available, but i just reread tinkerbell and like its looks.. Tinkerbelle is a 13.5-foot (4.1 m) sailboat in which 47-year-old newspaperman robert manry, a copy editor at the cleveland plain dealer, single-handedly crossed the atlantic ocean in 1965. at the time, it was the shortest but not the smallest boat to cross the atlantic nonstop. After much searching, i found a link for the mechanix illustrated article on building tinkerbelle 2.this one is actually readable unlike most of the "free" magazine plans i have found. i am leaning towards a simple pdracer for my first homemade boat but this design might be #2 if i can figure everything out..
The rudder featured in the plans is for shoal waters, however a hinged blade would work well for this design as well. the solid, all-wood rudder can be lifted out and removed. tinkerbelle 2 is a design that can be readily trailerable by most any vehicle and can be easily built in the single car garage.. Building plans for tinkerbell boat with wooden boat ideas and blueprints courting back again via background, many of these concepts and styles are still getting used today. although many modifications happen to be made because the inception of watercrafts in general, the basic tenets of boat building stay a strong regular for fishing boats of all sizes.. Without telling anyone but his wife and children he set about making plans to take their little family sailboat across the atlantic alone. the boat was a poor choice for his mission. in addition to being too small, it's entire design was for a pleasant afternoon on the lake..
