Polished boards in bathroom | build. hi we have relocated an old house which currently has polished floor board in bathroom laundry we want to keep the floors, the rooms need complete renovation.... I personally would not recommend using chip board regardless of being treated (not on the floor anyway) this can be used inside a shower cubicle ready to be tiled over, however on a bathroom floor i would recommend using a ply at least 10mm.. I have seen it done (i.e. original hardwood boards as bathroom flooring), and it's standing up to time very well. it was also approved by the council inspector as being 'in keeping' with the original house (polished boards throughout). but this is a 'grown-ups' house who understand that minimising water pooling is important..
